What is Extreme Camp?

Extreme camp is for youth ages 12-17yrs old. Because we value safety and supervision, there are limited Camper spots for Extreme Camp.

Actives include swimming at the waterfront, and daring the heights of a 30ft high ropes course.  Our low ropes section will challenge balance, coordination and teamwork skills!

Our camp is designed to help kids learn through hands-on activities and cooperative experiences. We know that children thrive when they feel safe, supported, and challenged in a positive way. Our camp philosophy is rooted in respect for nature, each other, and the world around us. Through outdoor exploration, creative expression, and physical activity, kids build confidence and independence while developing important social and emotional skills that last long after camp is over

But wait...there's more

Have you ever rafted the white waters of the Hoback Junction just down the road form Big Elk?
Craggy peaks framing the Snake River Canyon, cool river water, hot sun overhead. It’s a perfect recipe for an afternoon of bucking the rapids on one of the West’s most fabled rivers.

But don’t le that relax you. . . Several rapids await you on this river. As our paddles churn the water, you think of the rapids that await. The initial assault will be on Station Creek, S-Turn, Cutback and Little Kahuna, little swells that splash but are of no consequence. But beyond those rapids are Hole , Three-Oar Deal and the Big Kahuna. What a schizophreTaconic ride! Trust us when we say, “you will never forget the Big Kahuna!”

Plus Lagoon!

OK here’s where there is so much fun it is hard to explain…  We start off spending the whole day at Lagoon Amusement Park on the rides and at Lagoon-A-Beach water park and then spend the night at Lagoon Park Campground.

Our location is spectacular!

Big Elk Creek Camp is located amidst the pristine beauty of the Swan Valley District, nestled in the heart of the Targhee National Forest. The majestic backdrop of mountainous canyon slopes and foothills invites extraordinary wildlife, and the quiet serenity of nature. The Camp runs on hydro-electric power , and “the best water in the world” comes from a freshwater mountain spring above the campground providing running water to the whole camp. Big Elk Creek flows through our campground into a small, secluded lake, which extends to the Palisades Reservoir at the end of the valley. Millions of stars await your child!  Nightly campfires are a great way to end the day at Big Elk. Marshmallows and hot chocolate are an added treat!
